Cyclone Gabrielle Cleanup

Whakamana Limited played a crucial role in assisting families and businesses in Hawke's Bay following Cyclone Gabrielle, primarily through its heavy involvement in the Silt Taskforce. This involvement was focused on addressing the immediate aftermath of the cyclone, which included significant cleanup efforts across the region. The Silt Taskforce, a collective initiative aimed at clearing silt and debris left by the flooding, was instrumental in restoring access and safety to affected areas.

Whakamana Limited contributed manpower and resources to the task force, helping to manage and execute cleanup operations efficiently. This not only supported the immediate needs of the community but also provided employment opportunities for local residents, aiding in the economic recovery of the area.

In addition to its cleanup efforts, Whakamana Limited has a strong commitment to supporting local employment and training. Through initiatives like the Trades United initiative and partnerships with local educational institutions, Whakamana provides training and upskilling opportunities to residents. These programs are designed to equip individuals with the skills necessary to participate actively in the rebuilding and development of their communities, fostering long-term resilience and growth.

Whakamana’s ongoing support extends beyond immediate disaster response, contributing to sustainable development and community empowerment in Hawke's Bay. This approach not only helps in physical rebuilding but also strengthens the social and economic fabric of the community.
